Shoes to fit...

Someone commented on the size of my feet the other day, which as you can imagine at 5 foot nothing in height, are pretty small.  This is a very interesting point though, because after the weight loss over the last 12 months (I can't believe it's been that long!) my feet have also shrunk too!

This has been quite a puzzle to me - it's not as if I had big feet before (UK size 4) and my feet did not grow to a bigger size when I put on the weight a few years back, why then does it appear that my feet have shrunk to a size 3?  At first I thought it was just the odd one or two types/styles of shoes, but now it would seem that this is across the board.

The other day I decided to see if this was really happening, and not just a figment of my imagination - so I spent 10 minutes trying on some of the myriad of shoes I own just to see.  Annoyingly this shrinkage appears to be fact, which means that some of my favourite shoes, mainly the ones I save for 'special', no longer fit me! Not only do I have to replace some of my 'barely worn' wardrobe, I now have to replace my shoes as well!

Tsk!

Out with the old...

What to do with the clothes that don't fit!?

This is a strange conundrum, and one that I'm aware of already from, shall we say "on the way up".  When you put on weight, you tend to try and hold on to the slimmer clothes as long as possible, so that when you finally do shrink a bit, you can wear them again - positive mental attitude.  This happened to me with quite a few pieces of clothing which either wore out in the end (due to continuing expansion I guess!), or I gave away to friends or charity shops having failed to lose the inches.

The above was easy to do - I knew when I started losing weight again that I'd just buy more clothes, and that's exactly what I did.  The only problem was, I ended up shrinking through those too.  But instead of them having been stretched, or worn through, they were pretty much brand-spanking new.

So now I find myself with several items of clothing that are extremely unflattering for me, but in some cases are barely worn.  There are also several pairs of jeans which have been shortened to just the right length for me (because being rather short-of-leg, and with a painful inability to wear high-heels this was a must) I find myself wondering "should I keep these items, just in case I grow into them again?".

It's taken a great deal of convincing, but I've managed to persuade myself to either sell some of the items, or give them to one of my local charity shops (who are inadvertently contributing to my new wardrobe anyway!).  Keeping something in case I grow back into it is not positive in the slightest - and that is something that I've tried very hard to change over the last year, so here's to ditching the baggy clothes!

Now I just have to get my backside in gear, and actually do it!
